Restricted Substances Overview

This Special Report discusses the procedure for obtaining exemptions for specific applications of prohibited or restricted substances under the Directive on the restriction of the use of certain hazardous substances in electrical and electronic equipment (RoHS) (See Hunton and Williams’ EIA Special Report “WEEE and RoHS approved by the Conciliation Committee on October 10, 2002”). This procedure is important to the electronics industry, because it has to be followed to obtain additional exemptions for substances used in manufacturing processes or otherwise present in electronics.
