Introduction

Chile's 2004 Hazardous Waste Management Regulation (Supreme Decree No. 198; the "Regulation") covers the typical complement of waste issues: classification, generation, storage, transport, manifests, tracking, disposal, incineration, reuse and recycling. Of particular relevance to IHS EIATRACK subscribers, the Regulation adopts the Basel Convention classification scheme, in which most discarded electronics are presumptively hazardous wastes unless it can be demonstrated that they do not present any hazardous characteristics.
