Introduction

The Finnish government has transposed the text of the Stockholm Convention into national legislation, by the Government Decree on persistent organic substances (735/2002), issued in Helsinki on August 22, 2002. The Decree enters into force on September 1, 2002. Besides a prohibition of the use, import, export and marketing of the POPs listed in the appendix to the legislation as well as preparations containing them, also a product-related prohibition is included.
