Introduction

Slovenia has adopted legislation implementing Directive 76/769/EC, which imposes marketing and use restrictions in respect of certain dangerous chemical substances.

The implementation of the RoHS Directive in Slovenia was achieved by enacting new regulations. Specifically, the Ministry of Health issued new “Rules restricting the marketing or use of certain dangerous substances and preparations" (Official Journal of the Republic of Slovakia, No. 85/06, of 10 August 2006) (hereinafter the “Rules”). The Rules refer directly to Directive 2002/95/EC, i.e. the RoHS Directive. The exemptions set out in the Annex of the RoHS Directive are incorporated by “dynamic” reference into Rules, which means that any amendments of the RoHS Annex are directly effective in Slovenia.

This document describes these product-related legislative requirements:

  1. PentaBDE and OctaBDE restriction (applicable to all articles)
  2. TRIS, TEPA and PBB prohibition (applicable to textiles and textile articles)
  3. polybrominated biphenyls (PBB) or polybrominated diphenyl ethers (PBDE) (applicable to electronics)

Defined Restrictions:
All articles: PentaBDE & OctaBDE: limit (0.1% bymass)
Textiles: prohibition for TRIS, TEPA, PBB
Electronics: polybrominated biphenyls (PBB) or polybrominated diphenyl ethers (PBDE) : 0.1%
