Introduction

This report provides an overview of the legislation of the Czech Republic that imposes obligations with respect to waste shipment.

In 2006, the EU adopted the Regulation 1013/2006 on Shipment of Waste (the "Regulation"). This Regulation implements under EU law the Basel Convention on the Transboundary Shipment of Hazardous Waste (the "Basel Convention") and the OECD Decision on the Transfrontier Movement of Waste for Recovery the "OECD Decision").

The Czech Republic implemented the Regulation through the Waste Management Act No. 185/2001 (the "Waste Shipment Act"). This transposition appears to be consistent with the Regulation.

This report provides an overview of the national provisions that differ from or complement the Regulation. For a detailed discussion of the Regulation, see the subject report on Transboundary Waste Shipments in European Union.
