Introduction

Slovenia has transposed the EU Battery Directive (Directive 2006/66 of 6 September 2006) through the Battery Regulation ("Ureddbo o ravnanju z baterijami in akumulatorji ter odpadnimi baterijami in akumulatorji", the "Regulation"). The Regulation was published on 30 July 2008 and entered into force on 14 August 2008. It has also transposed the Commission Decision on producer registration of August 5, 2009.

The Regulation applies to all batteries and accumulators, regardless of their shape, volume, weight, material composition or use, subject to limited exceptions. It covers batteries incorporated into appliances and devices, including medical devices.
