Introduction

Luxembourg has implemented the EU Battery Directive 2006/66/EC of 6 September 2006 through the Act on Batteries and Accumulators (the "Act"), which was published on 19 December 2008 and entered into force on 30 December 2008. A Grand-Ducal Regulation repealing the former Regulation of 1993 was also published on the same day. The Ministry for the Environment is responsible for the enforcement of the Act in the event of non-compliance.
