USA Enacted Federal and State Energy Efficiency Legislation Matrix

Energy Efficiency

The federal government and many state legislatures are considering legislation relating to the energy efficiency of electronic products, product labeling, and efficient energy practices for state and federal facilities. In response to this legislative action, the matrix of Enacted Federal and State Energy Efficiency Legislation in the United States has been updated.

At the federal level, President Bush recently signed the Energy Independence and Security Act, which is discussed in detail below. At the state level, Massachusetts has enacted legislation implementing energy efficiency standards for certain electronic products. Each entry in the matrix includes a link to the enacted legislation, its effective date, a brief summary of the law's requirements and restrictions pertaining to energy efficiency; and the scope of products covered. A link to the matrix is provided below.
