As harmonised in the EU, Greece laid down legislation to restrict the presence of chromium (VI) in packaging.

In addition all of the Member States will have to transpose the EU chromium(VI) requirements for electrical and electonic equipment into national legislation as well before August 13, 2004 (but they do not need to apply these before July 2006).

  1. Chromium (VI) restriction in packaging
  2. Chromium (VI) prohibition in electronics

In Greece, restrictions applying to chemical constituents of electrical and electronic equipment (EEE) are set forth in the Presidential Decree 117/2004, published in the Government Gazette, Bulletin 82 on 5 March 2004 (the “Decree”), implementing the RoHS and WEEE Directives. The key provisions of the Decree relating to chemical restrictions are discussed in this report.

Greece has also adopted legislation implementing Directive 76/769/EC, which imposes marketing and use restrictions in respect of certain dangerous chemical substances. This legislation is reviewed very briefly below.

Defined Restrictions:
Packaging: Packaging: 100 ppm for sum of heavy metals (lead, mercury, hexavalent chromium, and cadmium)
Electronics: 0.1%
