Argentina has developed a robust national environmental efficiency program that is addressing, among many other issues, the development of minimum standards and labeling mandates for energy-using products. The national program leverages an existing mandatory energy efficiency labeling program that has traditionally focused on white goods and lighting. In addition, a separate program for improving energy efficiency in government buildings envisions the development of criteria for the purchase of energy-efficient goods and services. Under an agreement signed in late 2007 with the Federation of Argentine Municipalities, the national program was implemented at the provincial and municipal levels.
