The District of Columbia has not yet joined the states that have enacted measures to specifically address the management of or discarded electronic equipment. However, the District of Columbia is a member of the Mid-Atlantic Consortium of Recycling and Economic Development Officials ("MACREDO"), which has begun to study and make policy recommendations regarding electronics recycling issues. Also, staff at the D.C. Department of Health have advised us that the D.C. Government is working with the Metropolitan Washington Council of Governments ("COG") to devise voluntary measures to address the issue of spent electronics on a regional level.
