There are nearly 100,000 types of chemical substances being circulated worldwide and about 2,000 types of new chemical substances are invented annually for their commercialization.  In Korea alone, it is understood that nearly 40,000 types of chemical substances have been or are already in commerce and nearly 400 types of new chemical substances enter the domestic market annually.  Furthermore, the chemical industry in Korea enjoys gradually increasing proportion of domestic manufacturing industry – for example it occupies 14% of production of domestic manufacturing industry.  In correlation, there is increasing interest on safety and precautionary measures against these diverse types of chemicals.
