USA - Maryland Summary

Maryland has joined the states that are considering adopting regulations that specifically address the management of used or discarded electronic equipment. The Maryland State Legislature has passed legislation addressing mercury-added products. The legislation is now awaiting the governorís signature. A proposal to ban disposal of CRTs died in early 2001. Also, Maryland is a member of the Mid-Atlantic Consortium of Recycling and Economic Development Officials (MACREDO), which has begun to study and make policy recommendations regarding electronics recycling issues.
