Energy efficiency is an important issue for China. China currently has the largest population in the world but relatively insufficient resources to maintain the energy demands of such a population. As the population grows and the economy rapidly develops, the demand on energy resources becomes increasingly strong. Therefore, the need to enhance energy efficiency is keen for China. Moreover, climate change has posed practical threats to both the natural ecosystem and social economic development of China. As a result, China has adopted various measures to curb the increase of greenhouse gas ("GHG") emissions contributing to global climate change. In China's overall climate change/GHG emissions strategy, energy efficiency figures prominently.
