Canada’s federal government regulates both interprovincial and international shipments of hazardous waste.  Currently, most used electronic equipment is exempt from these regulations; however, in April 2010 Environment Canada published a proposal which, among other things, would expand the definitions of hazardous waste and hazardous recyclable materials to include designated electronic equipment.
